Bello Make Up Academy Portfolio Shoot

Oh shit.

3 months d since my previous blog post. Don worry I am still alive xD. I was just... buried with tonnes of works and some personal issues and it was really hard to get into mood of photography at such critical period. PC was slow, internet was kinda sucks , and the color management issues make my life even miserable. I will talk about it in the next post. (maybe :D)

Anyway, things getting better now but still tonnes of photos are waiting to be retouched. However, this is definitely a good thing for me, am i right? =D Oh ya last month I also have a chance to visit Studio 807 by Azrul Kevin Abdullah. Really thanks him for his kindness and passion,  also his guidance and advise which is priceless for me. Really appreciate it.

Okay, done with the shitty update about myself. This photos series was actually shot exactly 3 months ago =.=, a few days after posting of my previous blogpost =.=. I admit that I always spend a goddamn long time to retouch photos. (Ya I heard some complains already xD)

SIMPLY RETRO!

Make Up & Hair: Cass
Styling: Pauline
Model: Joan

I spent too much time retouching these series of photos. The tricky retro color tone and the reflections on the shades caused me headache for weeks. Damn. Especially the color tone that looked so ridiculously different in different monitors. Anyway I have "optimised" it so that you can see almost the same colour on every screen. Okay I agree that I am a goddamn perfectionist. Thanks Cass for her superb & fabulous make-up and Pauline for her effort in assisting in the styling. Of course, the model Joan is awesomely talented!

So, which shades you prefer the most? =D

PS: These photos are not shot in a studio. It's done in a corridor.

PS: Stay tune for the upcoming news and portfolio photos. I will also update more often in my facebook, twitter, and google+, and of course also in flickr and deviantart, so do follow!

Random Update

Life has never been easy.

I have been working in e-gallery for about a month, doing post processing, album design, photo shooting and everything else. Working life has never been easy for me who is so inconsistent and sucky in time management. And also, due to my engineering background, it's very difficult to take a huge leap to another world that is not belongs to me(yet!). New environment, new people, new frens, and new topics to be talked of everyday. It does really need sometime to adapt.

What I do during free time? Well there is definitely no free time for me in these few weeks. Personal projects planning, ideas brainstorming, discussions and meetings, etc. are almost filling my time up everyday. Okay, what I do when I was really free? Of course surfing around deviantart and flickr, where so many inspirations can be found there. Also I love to browse around behance.net and model mayhelm.com. The artworks really can blow your eyes out!

Alright, just a random update. Share with you guys a nice song that really motivating, for me. He is my idol. =)

Too much to share, too little time to talk about. Tired. Off to bed now.

P/S: Looking for talented models, make up artists, and stylists for upcoming personal projects. Interested please drop me a message here or via my email info.tonywan@gmail.com. =)

NATALIE

I am still the same - lazy photographer and love to break rules. These sets were all shots with natural light only. I always believe that photographer must have the eyes to see thing differently and to use lighting creatively. Credit to Natalie that is so talented and passionate in making everything great.

P/S: Currently having short holiday in Penang. Will get back to PJ next week. Holidays do really helps in recharging and lots of photography ideas popping out without the constraint of study LOL. More artworks coming soon in tonywan.com! (really soon!)

By the way: check out my art contributions in deviantart and flickr. They are really great and funny. =)

LIFE

I was so emo this morning after some chit chat with my family members about my career. Yes, I have quite an excellent academic and engineering background but it's so sick for me to continue doing things that I don't like. I always believe that to be great in something, no matter what is it, you have to fall in love with it. Things just can't be done without any passion and strong interest.

Forgive my aggressiveness but I have to insist that we do not have be so traditional and conservative just like any other Asian family and society. I already been asked too many times not to waste my time and effort "playing around in photography" but to continue in engineering career, and it's really annoying. Honestly, i like physics, science.. but engineering? Definitely not. I understand that in this modern society, conservative thinking about how good to have a high academic certificate doesn't work all the time. I have no negative opinion about those who are really interested and passionate in their study. But the cocky educational system in our country had sadly produce lots of youngsters that doesn't even know what they wanna do, or what they wanna be in the future (I was one of the victim). Sadly this case can be seen in my university, which call themselves the oldest and toppest university in this country (not anymore lol).

Alright stop talking bad things about others, but what I wanna say is education is important but only a correct one ensure everything's going great. One should known what is their true interest and true passion in their life. Merely following the trend and following what people do is always not the right way. Life's too short that it isn't going to be wasted just like that. We need to find our true love, we need to do things that make us feel alive, we need to be ourself. Things could be difficult initially but what you should do is simply persist on it and don't give up easily.  Be yourself, and live your life!

Oh ya a great article to read about: http://blog.zhangjingna.com/2009/09/my-education.html

"when we are alive, we need to do things that make us feel right
things that give us that feeling that we are living our own lives, our own choices
and if we are honest with our own feelings
we ought not feel bad for making others sad
because lying is worse"

This is one of my favourite quote from this article that keeps me motivated and believe in myself all the time.

Off now. May the force be with me. =)

Btw, a sneak peek picture of my next blog post. Stay tuned.

p/s: i beg ur forgiveness about my sucky written english LOL.
